Enhancement can improve perceived clarity, but it cannot recover information that was never captured. Inspect faces, text and repeated textures for invented or over-sharpened detail.
Enhancement aims to improve the appearance of a soft or noisy photo, while upscaling increases image dimensions. Choose enhancement alone, 2× upscaling, or enhancement followed by 2× or 4× upscaling according to your output needs. Increasing pixel dimensions does not prove that missing detail has been recovered.
Compare the original and result at a similar viewing size, then inspect faces, lettering and repeated textures more closely. A sharper-looking edge can still be inaccurate. Keep the original for reference and avoid relying on generated detail when the image is intended to document an exact fact or readable text.
